West Sparta Fire Department operates of a single fire station.  Their Headquarters is located at 4451 Red School Road, in the Town of West Sparta.

Pumper 584 a 2007 Pierce Contender, 1000 gallon X 30 gallon Foam 1250 gpm, 400 horse motor.

2000 Pierce/International 5 Man Cab, Hale 1250 gpm Single Stage Pump, 1000 Gallon Tank, 800 Feet 5" Supply Hose, 800 Feet 3" Supply Hose, 200 Feet 2 1/2" Attack Line (Pre-Connected), 400 Feet 1 3/4" Attack Line (Pre-Connected), 10" Newton Dump.

2006 International DT570 330 horsepower 4 door cab. The tanker has seating for 5 with four being air pack seats. Inside the cab, it was also has onboard GPS system. The tank has the capacity of 2000 gallons of water. It is equipped with an automatic 10” Newton dump with attachments that will allow for dumping from the right or left side of the truck. The Newton dump can be operated by the driver without getting out of the truck. There is a 300 gpm portable pump also on board. The tanker will carry various wildland equipment and equipment for water shuttling operations.

1986 FMC/GMC 2 man cab, Beam 1000 gpm Single Stage Pump, 1000 Gallon Tank, 600 Feet 3" Supply Hose, 200 Feet 2 1/2" Attack Line (Pre-Connected), 200 Feet 1 3/4" Attack Line (Pre-Connected), 500 Feet 1" Forestry Hose (Pre-Connected), 300 gpm Portable, 2100 gallon Portable Pond, 6" Round Dump, Miscellaneous Hand Tools and Wildland Equipment.

On Sunday April 6th the West Sparta Fire Department conducted a live fire training exercise on Stoner Hill Rd in the Town of West Sparta. The object of the drill was a partially demolished house and garage that were being burned to make room for new construction. Firefighters were able to use the Blitzfire Portable Monitor for several evolutions of foam training on the garage prior to burning the structure.  Assisting with the drill was Dansville and Sparta Fire Departments.  Story and Photos by Jay Lynch.

West Sparta Fire Department along with Dansville Fire and Ambulance Department were dispatched to a reported tractor trailer roll over on Interstate 390 South. Command went on location to find a box trailer full of tomatoes rolled on its side. Traffic was diverted for nearly 3 hours as the trailer was up righted. Assisting at the scene were the NYS Police, Livingston County Sheriffs and NYS DOT.  Story and Photos provided by Michael Levey.

West Sparta Fire Department was requested to respond to a reported grass fire on Green Road. Command went on location with a grass fire with exposure problems. Personnel were able to save an old pickup, boat, tractor, and several tires from being ignited.  Story and Photos provided by Michael Levey.
