Burn Drill - Sunday - March 30th, 2008 - Springwater On Sunday March 30th the Springwater Fire Department conducted a controlled burn at the Harriet Hollister Spencer Memorial Recreation Area on Canadice Hill Rd in the Town of Canadice. A large three storie A frame Lodge was the subject of the drill. Apparatus had to back down a road approximately 1mile to the area of the lodge where they proceeded to set up a port-a-tank and drafting operation. Richmond Fire Department used there all terrain vehicle to transport equipment and was able to pull 500' of LDH hose through the woods up to the lodge. This machine was an incredible asset to the operation. 12 inches of snow, tree limbs and a steep incline was unable to stop it. This is an Unbelievable Machine.... Two hand lines and a master stream was set up to protect the exposures. Departments assisting Springwater were Richmond, Hemlock, Wayland, Perkinsville and Sparta. Story and Photos by Jay Lynch. |
