Structure Fire - Sparta - Saturday - September 12th, 2009 The Sparta Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported house fire at 8412 Sparta Springwater Townline Road the afternoon of Saturday September 12th, 2009. Car 5501 went on location with a house fire. Mutual aid to the scene was requested from Dansville Fire Department, Wayland Fire Department, and Springwater Fire Department. The Conesus Fire Department was requested to fill in for Sparta. Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Managment |

Glider Accident - Sparta - Saturday- August 1st, 2009 The Sparta and Dansville Fire Departments along with Dansville Ambulance and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported Glider Plane accident on Harter Road in the Town of Sparta the afternoon of Saturday August 1st, 2009. Mercy Flight was also placed on stand by. One patient was transported to an area hospital. Investigating the accident is the FAA with the assistance of the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. |

Structure Fire - Sparta - Saturday - May 16th, 2009 On Saturday May 16th. at approximately 4:00am the Sparta Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Groveland Station Road and Culbertson Road. Dansville 5101 went on location an relayed that there was a fully involved vacant structure on fire with an exposure in danger. Sparta 5502 went enroute and requested a pumper from Dansville to the scene. Also requested to the scene was 1 pumper from Groveland. The Conesus Fire Department filled in for Sparta. Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management. Assisting at the scene and with the investigation is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. |

Controlled Burn - Sparta - Saturday - June 16th, 2007 On Saturday June 16th the Sparta Fire Department conducted alive burn exercise in an old home at 7904 Sparta Springwater TL Rd. in the Town of Sparta. Sparta and surrounding departments had the opportunity to conducted training evolution's on the house prior to Saturdays drill. Groveland Engine 324 set up a draft at a pond on the neighboring property and supplied Springwater Engine 544 through 400' LDH. Springwater placed hand lines to protect exposures to the North of the fire building while Sparta Engine 554 set up to draft from two port-a-tanks. Sparta set up hand lines to protect exposures on the South side while a tanker shuttle was being set up. Departments participating with Sparta were Dansville, West Sparta, Conesus, Groveland, Springwater and Wayland on standby for Sparta. Story and photos provided by Jay Lynch. |

Tractor Fire - Sparta - Monday - May 29th, 2006 - Memorial Day Shortly before 6:00 PM on Monday May 29, the Sparta Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a tractor fire inside a barn across from 8773 Route 63 in the Town of Sparta. Martha Ronsheim had started up her tractor to do some mowing when flames erupted around the engine. A quick response by Sparta Firefighters under the direction of Chief Carl Sanderson found the fire out with no extension to the barn. Office of Emergency Management Services Fire Investigator Tom Pearson assisted in the Cause and Origin determination. The source of the fire was determined to be debris on the exhaust manifold. Damage to the tractor was minimal. Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Casey McLaughlin assisted at the scene. Story provided by Tom Pearson. |

Structure Fire - Sparta - Easter Sunday April 16th, 2006 The Sparta Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Scottsburg Road and West Swamp Road (State Rt. 256) the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2006. Sparta Car 5502 went on location with a confirmed structure fire. Command requested 1 Pumper from Groveland, Conesus and Dansville to the scene. A later request for Dansville Ladder 518 was also made. Springwater filled in Sparta, Livonia in Conesus, and West Sparta in Groveland during this incident. Investigating the blaze is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management with the assistance of the New York State Police and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene was New York State Electric and Gas and Livingston County Sewer and Water Authority. |

MVA- Sparta - Friday - March 24th, 2006 The Sparta Fire Department, Dansville Fire Department and Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported Head on motor vehicle accident on the morning of Friday March 24th, 2006. Updates while units were responded reported on person trapped and no movement scene in the other vehicle. Mercy Flight was requested and transported on patient to an area hospital. Dansville Ambulance with Livingston County ALS also transported to an area hospital. Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. |

Barn Fire - Sparta - Saturday November 27th, 2004 The Sparta Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire on Route 63 in the vacinity of White Bridge Rd. on the Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2004. Mutual aid was requested from Dansville and Groveland. First in responders found a small barn fully involved. A quick attack with the deck gun darkened the flames and second in crews completed the job. The barn was a total loss as was a car parked behind the barn. Route 63 traffic was closed for approximately 1 hour. Deputy Weidrich and Sgt. Barkan from the LCSO assisted Investigators Pearson and Gehrig from Emergency Management Services in determining the cause of the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be from wind blown embers from a corn field across the road that was being burned off after harvest. Pictures and story provided by Tom Pearson. |

House Fire - Sparta - Friday - May 14th, 2004 The Sparta Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported House Fire on Liberty Pole Road, the early morning hours of Friday, May 14th, 2004. Sparta Car 55 went on location and advised of a working house fire. The Dansville Ambulance arrived, requested ALS Medic 79 to the scene. Dansville Ambulance with Medic 79 transported one of the residents with smoke inhalation to a local hospital. Assisting Sparta at the scene was the Conesus and Dansville Fire Departments. Dansville also provided a pumper for a Stand by at the Sparta Fire Station. Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Bureau of Fire. Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, and the Clara Barton Chapter #1 of the American Red Cross. Pictures provide by Jeff Faugh. |
