Structure Fire - Mt. Morris - Thursday - February 28th, 2008

Shortly after 0240 hrs on the morning of 2/28/08, the Mt. Morris Fire Dept was dispatched to the report of a working structure fire at 7150 Begole Rd. in the Town of Mt. Morris.  First in reported a fully involved mobile home with an addition, presumed vacant.  Responding Mt. Morris Chief Jim Mann called for mutual aid from Nunda, West Sparta and Leicester to establish a tanker shuttle.  Weather conditions were brutally cold, zero or below, and caused problems with frozen dump valves.  Also, two 120 gallon propane tanks were venting behind the trailer and required that extreme  caution be exercised until internal pressures were reduced.  The structure had recently been purchased, remodeled and was about to be sold, at 9:30 AM on the 28th.  The home was vacant at the time of the fire.  The cause of the fire is being investigated by Kevin Niedermaier, Jerry Gehrig and Tom Pearson from the Livingston County Emergency Management Services.  LCSO Deputy Kevin Geer and Sgt Jeff Wiedrick assisted at the scene.  Story and Photos provided by Tom Pearson.
