Firefighters Who Have Answered Their Last Call

 

This page is dedicated in the memory of Gerald Levey of the West Sparta Fire Department.  If your department has a member, past or present, who has answered their final call, please email the information, including a picture if possible, and we will post it here.

David Harter - Former Fire Coordinator - Member Dansville Fire Department

It is with deep regret and sympathy to the Harter Family and all the member of the Fire Department Community in Livingston County that we announce the passing of David Harter.  The following information is provided by Wayne Stanley, Fire Chief, Dansville, NY:

 
David Harter - Past Chief of the Dansville Fire Department, Past President of Livingston County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association,
 Past President of Western New York Volunteer Fireman’s Association, and Former Fire Coordinator of Livingston County.  A 
Memorial Service and Firemen’s Tribute will be held At the Dansville Fire Department Hall on Franklin Street On Wednesday, May 7th 
at 11:00 am.  The family is going to have a Private Service at the cemetery.  Firemen wishing to wear their uniforms can do so, but
 not mandatory.  Expectations of a large contingent of Firemen and Friends are expected, so All Firemen are requested to arrive in
Dansville 1/2  hr  to 1 hour in advance of the stated hours to allow for placement at the Memorial.  Parking Areas have 
been secured with Shuttle Buses to Operate to the Fire Hall.  Please utilize these areas to allow ample parking in the limited area
around the Fire Hall for Family.  Proceed to the Old Ames/Tops Parking Lot (across  from the new Tops) Located on Route 36 between
 Rt. 390, Exit 5 and the Village Fire Police will direct parking areas and buses will run throughout the area.  An Honor Guard will be
composed of the Dansville Fire Department Members with any other County Department invited to join by presenting with their 
Department Flag.  The James H. Jackson Hose Company on Clara Barton St. and the Dansville Moose Lodge on South Main St.  will be 
holding receptions following the Services.  County Fire Departments:  Dansville is looking for assistance with the following: Buses to 
be used in the Shuttle Fire Department Personnel, Vans to be used for Transport, and Fire Police to work with the County Fire Police.

Andrew Eve

Nov. 11, 1973 - Aug. 13, 2007

It is with deep regret we had to report the untimely death of Andrew "Drew" Eve from the Livonia Fire Department.  Andrew passed away Monday evening August 13th, 2007 surrounded by his family.  Andrew fought a long and courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis.  Andrew's wishes where to have his body donated to science for Cystic Fibrosis research & there were NO Calling Hours & NO Funeral, Andrew's family honored this.  Andrew requested a Celebration of Life gathering.  That was held on Friday August 17th, 2007 at 1:00pm at Long Point Park, on Conesus Lake; West Lake Road, Geneseo.   Andrew was a Livonia Firefighter, former EMT-I with Livonia EMS, a New York State Fire Instructor, Livingston County E911 Police/Fire/EMS Dispatcher, & a friend to all.  A Blog has been created to post Memorials to the Eve Family and so you can post your favorite "Drew" story.

 

Bruce Pease

Lima Vol. Fire Department  New York

Mossy Head ~ Oakwood Hills Vol.     Fire Department, Florida

Bruce Pease formerly of Lima, NY, now residing in DeFuniak Springs, FL passed away the morning of October 26th, 2006.  Calling Hours are to be held at the Jerry Evans Funeral Home in DeFuniak Springs, Fl. on Monday October 30th, 2006.  Bruce is survived by his Wife Lois; Daughters and Sons in Law; Judy and Rich Allison and Patti and Mark Davis.  Granddaughters Marie and Laura.

It is with sincere sympathy that the Mt. Morris Fire Department announces the pass of of Warren Templeton on June 27th, 2006.  Warren was a Past Chief of the Mt. Morris Fire Department.

 

John Milliman

East Avon Fire Department

Avon Rotary Lions Ambulance

August 27, 1941 to May 24, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department and the Avon Rotary Lions Ambulance regretfully announce the passing of John Milliman.  John was Chaplain and a Past President of East Avon Fire Department, a Pioneer in Firefighter Safety and Critical Incident Stress Management.  John had served as a Fire Commissioner for the Town of Avon Fire District.  At the time of his passing John was Chaplain and Past President of the Livingston County Firefighters Association.  John is a past member of Gates Fire Department, Gates Ambulance, and a Past Asst. Al McKeown

Past Chief - Geneseo Fire Department

The Geneseo Fire Department regretfully announces the passing of Past Chief Al McKeown.  Al was Geneseo's Fire Chief from 1964 to 1966.

Gerald Levey

Chief - West Sparta Fire Department

Tuesday night January 31st, 2006 Several Fire Departments from Livingston and surrounding counties assembled at the Rector Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo to pay there respects to the Levey Family.  A Fire Fighters Service was held at 18:30 hrs.  On Wednesday February 1st, 2006 firefighters Livingston and surrounding counties again assembled for Gerry's Funeral Service.  Pictures from the Funeral Service are Courtesy of Michael Johnson Photographer for the Livingston County News and a West Sparta Firefighter.

Past Chief

Honeoye Falls Fire Department

1966 to 2006

C. J. was awarded the Honeoye Falls F.D. Distinguished Service Award 2005 at the annual Banquet March 11th, 2006.  His parents Carl and Kaye accepted the award.
