Fire Department Wedding - Friday - September 4th, 2009

On Friday evening, September 4, Lima Fire Department Captain Pat McGrath and Ladies Auxiliary secretary Jen Gruschow were married at Vitale Park on Conesus Lake. The bride arrived aboard the department's antique fire engine. She was escorted to the ceremony by fire apparatus from Lakeville and Livonia, while ladder trucks from Geneseo and East Avon formed an arch at the entrance to the park. McGrath proposed to Gruschow while marching in last year's Rush firemen's parade.  Story and Photos by Jeffrey Arnold.

 
Car vs Tree MVA- Lima - Thursday - April 23rd, 2009

The Lima Fire Department and Ambulance along with Livonia ALS Medic 74 were dispatched to a reported car vs tree mva, with entrapment, and the vehicle on fire, Thursday evening, April 23rd, 2009 on Doran Road.  Lima Command reported a car vs tree mva, with entrapment, and a fully envolved vehicle fire.  Command requested 1 Pumper from West Bloomfield to Assist at the scene and East Avon to Fill in for Lima.  Despite the efforts of the responding personal, 2 teen agers were pronounded Dead at the Scene the the Livingston Co. Corner.  Investigating the Accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management, The Livingston County District Attorney, and The New York State Police.

Field Fire - Lima - Saturday - July 19th, 2008

On Saturday afternoon, July 19, Lima firefighters were dispatched to a wheat field fire on Poplar Hill Road.  Lima Fire Chief Paul Luft arrived on location and reported a large field fire. He requested two additional brush trucks to the scene from Livonia and Hemlock fire departments.  Firefighters were able to bring the rapidly spreading fire quickly under control.  The blaze was found been caused by a combine which was harvesting the wheat at the time. Barn Fire - Lima - Wednesday - June 25th, 2008

The Lima Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a working barn fire at the intersection of Routes 5 & 20 at York St.  Livonia Car 2502 was on location reporting a working fire.  Lima Car 23 went on location with at Bear's Playground with at  least 3 barns involved and requested multiple mutual aid Fire Departments to the scene.  Assisting Lima at the scene were: Avon, East Avon, Hemlock, Livonia, Lakeville, West Bloomfield, Honeoye Falls, and Ionia  Fire Departments.  Several area fire departments provided fill ins for the companies at the scene.  Livonia Ambulance & ALS and Avon ALS provided a stand by at the scene to assist Lima Ambulance.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police.

Structure Fire - Lima - Saturday - April 26th, 2008

The Lima Fire Department and Lima Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 1503 Rochester Street the evening of Saturday April 26th, 2008.  East Avon was covering for Lima for their annual banquet and was quickly in route to the fire.  East Avon went on location with a working fire and requested the rest of their equipment along with mutual aid from Honeoye Falls, Rush, Livonia Fire Departments, and Livonia Ambulance to the scene.  Hemlock filled in at the Lima Fire Station.  Avon was placed on stand by in quarters for East Avon.

 
MVA - Lima- Sunday- April 20th, 2008

On Sunday afternoon, April 20, Lima Fire and EMS responded to a single car accident with entrapment on Routes 5 & 20 just west of Livonia Center Road. Firefighters had to use the "Jaws of Life" to extricate the driver and passenger from the vehicle, which struck a tree . They were transported by Mercy Flight Central and Lima EMS to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Livingston County & Livonia EMS Advanced Life Support also assisted at the scene. The Honeoye Falls Fire Department stood by in the Lima fire station during the incident. The New York State Police & the Livingston County Sheriffs Office were on scene, and continue to investigate the accident.  Story and Photos by Jeffrey Arnold.

 
Structure Fire- Sunday - April 6th, 2008 - Lima

On Sunday, April 6, Lima Fire and EMS responded to a report of smoke in the house at 7114 Jenks Road. Car 23 arrived on location and reported a working fire. Livonia FD responded with a FAST team. The fire was brought quickly under control. East Avon and Hemlock filled in for Lima and responded to a brush fire on Martin Rd.  Story and Photos provided by Jeffrey Arnold.

 
Structure Fire - Lima - Monday - February 4th, 2008

Just after 1:00am the Lima Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Structure Fire, fire in the basement, at 7556 East Main Road in the Town of Lima.  Car 2301 went on location with heavy smoke showing.  Car 23 arrived and assumed command.  Car 23 request the following mutual aid: East Avon, Honeoye Falls, West Bloomfield, Mendon, Rush, and Livonia Fire Departments to the scene.  Avon Fire Department filled in for Lima, Rush also provided a fill in for Honeoye Falls, and Conesus filled in for Hemlock.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the American Red Cross.  Photos provided by Jeffrey Arnold.

Plane Crash - Lima - Thursday - May 3rd, 2007

The Lima Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported small airplane crashed, possibly and ultra light airplane, on East Main Road, the morning of Thursday May 3rd, 2007.  Lima Ambulance with Avon ALS transported 1 patient to an area hospital.  Investigating the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the FAA.

 
MVA - Lima - Wednesday - February 7th, 2007

The Lima Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported MVA on Livonia Center Road at Jenks Road the afternoon of Wednesday February 7th, 2007.  2304 went on location with the MVA and reported people trapped.  An Ambulance and ALS from Livonia was requested to the scene.  Investigating the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

 MVA - Lima - Friday - September 1st, 2006

The Lima Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported MVA on York Street the afternoon of Friday September 1st, 2006.  Responding equipment found a MVA with utility pole sheared off.  Lima Ambulance transported one patient to an area hospital.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

 

Structure Fire - Lima - Monday - May 29th, 2006 - Memorial Day

Shortly before 4:00 PM on Monday May 29, the Lima Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire at the Ronald Blodgett residence at 1556 Bragg St. in the Town of Lima.   Debris from a barn that was being torn down ignited behind the home sending a column of smoke into the afternoon sky.  Responding Lima Firefighters, under the direction of Chief Andy Luft, called for a mutual aid tanker from the West Bloomfield Fire Department as they arrived.  Hose was laid up the long driveway and water put on the house to keep the fire from spreading.  The flames were quickly extinguished.  Office of Emergency Management Services Fire Investigators Jerry Gehrig and Tom Pearson responded to assist with the Cause and Origin determination.  The fire began when a embers from a burn pile to the North of the barn blew into the pile of debris.  The burn pile, though not used for quite a period of time, still contained enough heat that when combined with the strong winds were able to re-ignite the fire.  The house received no damage.  Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Dougherty assisted at the scene.  Story and Pictures provided by Tom Pearson.

Automatic Alarm with Fire - Lima - Friday November 11th, 2005

The Lima Fire Department, Lima Ambulance, and automatic Mutual Aid from Honeoye Falls Fire Department were dispatched to an alarm on the Elim College Campus on Friday November 11th, 2005.  Lima Car 23 reported a electrical fire, now out, upon his investigation.

 
Structure Fire - Lima - Friday - April 1st, 2005
 
At approximately 1:005 PM on Friday April 1, the Lima Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at East End Motors located at 7573 East Main Rd in the Town.  First due fire crews, under the command of Lt. Dave Kirkwood, found heavy black smoke showing from the equipment bay.  The initial attack brought the flames under control quickly.  The cause of the fire was a dropped trouble light while working on a leaking gasoline tank on a car on the lift.  Structural damage was minimal but overhaul required all ceiling tiles to be removed.  The car was destroyed and a snowmobile stored inside received heat and smoke damage.  Fire investigation was done by Emergency Management Services Investigators McGory and Pearson and Law Enforcement on scene was Trooper McFadden out of the Lima Station.  Story and photos provided by Tom Pearson.
