Storm Response Erie and Orleans Counties October 13th - 17th

Bob Beisang from Caledonia FD reported the following additional information on Livingston Counties assistance to Erie and Orleans Counties: 

Caledonia Pumper 114 and Grass Truck 112 were in Erie County Fri October 13th with Livonia Car 25 & Pumper 254 and York Pumper 154 & Ambulance 855.  Then the following day October 14th at 1700 till October 15th 15:00 Pumper 114 and Grass Truck 112 were in Orleans County with Grass Truck 112 mainly in Albion pumping basements all day and Pumper 114 filling in as the first response pumper for Barre.  The morning of October 15th Pumper 114 responded with Barre fire Chief Tom Bentley to a CO poisoning where the residents had been running a generator in the basement for the two previous days.  A reading of nearly 260 PPM CO sent two small children and mother to the hospital for examination. 

Upon return to Caledonia at 16:00 on October 15th Caledonia sent Grass Truck 112 back to Orleans County for more pumping and general manpower fill-in at Barre FD.  While at Barre, East Avon was also in Barre (both as SEFU units).  At 06:40 AM Barre had a hit for a structure fire on Kams Rd.  Barre Chief Tom Bentley responded with Candor FD (the pumper fill-in) and Caledonia and East Avon personnel.  Barre also had personnel respond a pumper, rescue and tanker to this fire.  This was a great example of firefighting brotherhood with very far flung mutual aid operating and making a very good stop.

Caledonia FD Pumper 114 responded for a 48 hour fill-in at Getzville FD in the Erie County town of Amherst.  Filling in from 1700 Monday 16 October through 1900 Wed. 18 October 2006.  We did all first response for fire / rescue / EMS calls and responded to approximately 19 calls over the 48 hours.  Attached are pictures from Getzville FD.  Info and pictures provided by Bob Beisang.
