 New Leroy 63

On August 27th the LeRoy Fire Department placed into service the new Engine 63. This apparatus will play a key role in the response of the fire department to all areas of the district. Engine 63 will be the first responding unit to all fires and motor vehicle accidents.

The truck has a 500+ horsepower Caterpillar engine. The power is used to drive the 2000 gallons per minute pump and put the 1800 gallons of water in the tank into motion. It has a telescoping light tower that is powered by an onboard 15K generator. The generator also helps power a full set of “Jaws of Life” extrication equipment.

Many hours of planning, inspecting, outfitting and driver training went in to getting this Engine in service. The entire process took almost a year to complete. Thanks to all those who made extra efforts to get this valuable truck in service.
