Structure Fire - Groveland - Friday - April 24th, 2009

The Groveland Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Groveland Correctional Facility 7000 Sonyea Road the afternoon of Friday April 24th, 2009.  Groveland command confirmed a working fire in the Seed House, a maintenance building,  at the correctional facility.  Several area departments responded mutual aid to the assist Groveland and Groveland Correctional firefighters.   Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management, the New York State Police, and the Groveland Correctional Facility.

 
Vehicle Fire - Groveland - Tuesday - March 30th, 2009

On Monday March 30th, 2009 the Groveland Fire Department was dispatched to a garbage truck fire on West Lake Road at Maple Beach Road.  Car 3202 arrived on location and reported heavy smoke from the compactor on the truck.  Firefighters had to dump the contents of the compactor into the road to extinguish the fire.  West Lake Road was shut down during the firefighting operations.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  The Sparta Fire Department filled in for Groveland while they were out.  The cause of the fire was determined to be compressed computer parts.  Story and Photos provided by Bill Sickles, Car 3202.

Structure Fire - Groveland - Thursday - December 18th, 2008

C1 called in a radio alarm for a structure fire at 6160 Morris Road in Groveland the evening of Thursday December 18th, 2008.  A good part of Livingston County assisted at the scene of a fully involved house fire in Groveland Thursday evening.  Groveland crews were alerted at 5:51 PM to the structure fire on Morris Rd. and quickly called for help from Geneseo, Conesus, Mt. Morris, York, Cuylerville and Lakeville to provide a tanker shuttle and lighting at the scene.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Story by Tom Pearson.  Photos provided by Andrew Chanler.

Structure Fire - Groveland - Monday - November 17th, 2008

The Groveland Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Grain Bin/Silo Fire the morning of Monday, November 17th, 2008.  Car 32 went on location and confirmed a fire in a Grain Bin/Silo.  Command requested Dansville FD to stand by in Groveland Station and Mt Morris Fire Department to the scene.  Mt Morris was downgraded to a stand by in quarters and were eventually released.  Command requested Geneseo FD with manpower to the scene.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Photos provided by Andrew Chanler, Chief Geneseo Fire Department.

 
MVA - Groveland - Saturday- February 23rd, 2008

The Groveland Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to a reported 1 car MVA on Groveland Hill Road the early morning of Saturday February 23rd, 2008.  Car 3202 went enroute and requested ALS to respond.  Livingston County EMS Medic 79 was dispatched.  Three patients were transported to area hospitals by Geneseo Ambulance.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

Fatal Car Pedestrian MVA - Groveland - Saturday - October 20th, 2007

The Groveland and Dansville Fire Departments, Dansville Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported Car Pedestrian MVA on I-390 NB North of Exit 6 the morning of Saturday October 20th, 2007.  Livingston County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and reported a possible DOA.  Responding EMS confirmed it was a DOA.  Assisting at the Scene was the NY State Police and the Livingston County Corner's Office.  The Livingston County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.  If anyone has information they are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 585-243-7100.

 
Motor Vehicle Accident - Groveland - Tuesday - September 25th, 2007

The West Sparta Fire Department, Dansville Ambulance and Fire Department for the Rescue, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a MVA on Rt. 36 near Flats Road on Tuesday Afternoon September 25th, 2007.  Car 5801 went on location in the Groveland Fire District.  Groveland was the dispatched to the scene.  Mercy Flight was requested to transport one of the victims.  Investigating the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police, New York State DOT, and the Mt. Morris Ambulance was requested to rehab the emergency personel.

 
Barn Fire - Groveland - Tuesday - May 8th, 2007

May 8th at 10:30pm area residences were rocked by the sounds of explosions from a fully involved structure fire in the area of Hunts Corners.  The first alarm from the Livingston County 911 Center called for the Groveland Fire Department to respond to Lakeville Groveland Road in the area of Lee Road for a possible barn fire.

As members embarked to the Stations for apparatus, dispatchers advised that this structure is reported to be fully involved and several explosions have been heard.  Car 32, Groveland Fire Chief Steve Teeter quickly asked for an additional alarm.  Two Pumper/Tankers from Geneseo, Mt. Morris and Conesus were dispatched immediately to the scene.  Groveland Pumper 325 made the initial assault as Mini 322 responded directly to Barbers Pond to establish a fill site.  Other responding unit arrived on scene and began to supply water to this massive blaze.

Due to the amount of water needed an additional alarm was transmitted requesting fill in units at other Stations to respond to the scene.

The building was an L-shaped metal barn.  The main structure measured about 60 feet by 100 feet and secondary structure, 40 by 60 feet.  Both structures were filled with over fifty years accumulation of machinery, farm and gardening equipment and a supply shop for the owners plumbing business.

The blaze was knocked down after a 2 hour master stream defensive attack by firefighters.  Agencies and Departments needed in this emergency were: Groveland FD, Geneseo FD and Ambulance, Conesus FD, Mt. Morris FD, Springwater FD, Lakeville FD and Cuylerville FD, The Livingston County Emergency Management Office and Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.  Major support was given by other Departments as fill in units: Sparta Fire Co., York FD, Dansville FD, Nunda FD and East Avon.

No injuries were reported, some affects were salvaged but the structures were lost.  Story and photos provided by David Macaluso.

 
MVA - Groveland - Monday - March 5th, 2007

The Groveland Fire Dept. responded and had assistance from the Dansville and Mt. Morris Fire Departments for multiple MVA's with multiple victims on I-390 between Exit 6 and Exit 7, near the Rest Area, the afternoon of Monday March 5th, 2007.  Ambulance from Geneseo, Dansville, Avon, Mt. Morris, and York along with ALS from throughout Livingston County responded to the scene.  Assisting at the scene was the NY State Police, Livingston County Sheriff's Office, and the Mt. Car Fire - Groveland - Sunday - February 25th, 2007

While on routine patrol on I-390, a NYS Trooper located a car fire on I-390 between Sonyea Rd. (Rt. 36) and Pioneer Road.  The Groveland Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Pictures taken by Tom McGory and provided by Tom Pearson.

Controlled Burn Drill - Groveland - Sunday July 30th, 2006

Groveland Fire Department Conducted a controlled burn on Sunday morning July 30th.  A large pile of demolition material next to the fire hall on Rt 63 was the object of the drill. Assisting Groveland were Conesus, West Sparta, Sparta and Dansville.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

 

Chimney Fire - Groveland - Saturday January 7th, 2006

The Groveland Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Chimney Fire at 5064 Wilson Road the morning of Saturday January 7th, 2006. The Livingston County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.

Motor Vehicle Accident - Groveland  Tuesday November 15th, 2005

The Groveland Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported tractor trailer rolled over on I-390 in the area of the Rest Areas on Tuesday November 15th, 2005 at approximately 4:50pm.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Haz Mat Team, the New York State DOT, and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the New York State Police.

 

Motor Vehicle Accident - Groveland  Sunday November 13th, 2005

The Groveland Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported roll over motor vehicle accident with a person trapped at Wilson Road and Barber Hill Road Sunday November 13th, 2005 at approximately 11:45am.  Assisting at the scene were the following agencies: Livonia Ambulance and ALS; Dansville Fire Department, Dansville Ambulance; the Conesus Fire Department and Mercy Flight.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the New York State Police.  Assisting with the Investigation is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

 

Motor Vehicle Accident - Groveland  Monday November 7th, 2005

The Groveland Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Monday Morning, Nov. 7th, 2005 at approximately 8:00am.  Assisting at the scene was the Geneseo Fire Department and the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the New York State Police.

Tractor Trailer Fire - Groveland - Tuesday August 3, 2004

The Groveland Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to a reported tractor trailer on fire, on I 390 Northbound in the area of the Pioneer Road Bridge on Tuesday night August 3rd, 2004 at approximately 11:30pm.  Responding units found the trailer part of the truck fully involved in fire.  West Sparta Fire Department was requested to the scene to assist.  Assisting at the scene of the fire was the New York State Police and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Picture Provided by Tom Pearson.

 

Barn Fire - Groveland - Wednesday July 28, 2004

The Groveland Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were Dispatched to a reported Barn Fire at the intersection of Turner Road and Hill Top Drive on Wednesday afternoon, July 28th, 2004 at approximately 1:30pm.  Car 3202 went on location with a working barn fire.  He quickly called for Mutual Aid from Conesus, Geneseo, Mt. Morris, and Livonia Fire Departments to the scene.  Dansville Fire Dept. filled in for Groveland Fire Dept., Leicester Fire Dept. filled in for Mt. Morris Fire Dept., and Livonia Fire Dept also filled in for Conesus Fire Dept.  At approximately 6:00 pm Groveland Fire Dept. was dispatched to a rekindle.  Then at approximately 11:00pm Groveland Fire Dept. and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to the area again, for a rekindle with extension to barns that were previously not involved.  At the second rekindle the following Fire Departments assisted at the scene: Conesus, Sparta, Mt. Morris, Cuylerville, West Sparta, and Nunda.  Leicester Fire Department filled in for both Mt. Morris and West Sparta, Dansville Fire Dept. filled in for Groveland Fire Dept., Springwater Fire Dept filled in for Sparta Fire Dept., and Livonia filled in for Conesus Fire Dept.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Investigating the cause of the fires is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.
