MVA - Geneseo - Monday - December 22nd, 2008 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a two car MVA on Lakeville Groveland Road in the area of Booher Hill Road the evening of Monday December 22nd, 2008. Responding units encountered a two car MVA with one vehicle off the road and the other vehicle into a utility pole. Geneseo Ambulance transported one patient to an area hospital. Investigating the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police. |

2008 On Tuesday December 9th. Geneseo Fire Department was dispatched to a possible furnace fire at 4243 Reservoir Rd in the Town of Geneseo. Structure Fire - Geneseo - Monday - November 24th,
2008 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported barn fire on Lima Road on the evening of Monday, November 24th, 2008. The Livingston County E911 Center received several calls reporting a fully involved barn fire. Car 31 requested mutual aid to the scene from York, Cuylerville, and Lakeville. Mt Morris Fire Department stood by for Geneseo, East Avon stood by for Lakeville, and Caledonia filled in for York. Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management. Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the Geneseo Village Police Department. |

Structure Fire - Geneseo - Saturday - November 22nd,
2008 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Saturday November 22nd, 2008 at approximately 2:30pm at 5029 Reservoir Road. While responding units were advised a possible drier fire. Units went on location with what appeared to be clothes burning in the driveway. Geneseo Fire Department removed smoke from the house. MVA - Geneseo - Wednesday - November 5th,
2008 The Geneseo Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, Geneseo Police, Livingston County ALS, and Mercy Flight on automatic stand by were dispatched to a reported Pedestrian Struck MVA on Genesee St (Rt. 63) near College Dr. The morning of Wednesday November 5th, 2008. Geneseo Police went on location with a person struck by a tractor trailer with serious injuries. Livingston County ALS requested a second ALS Unit to assist with possible RSI. Geneseo Ambulance with 2 Livingston County ALS Medics transported one patient to an area hospital. Assisting in the investigation is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, SUNY Geneseo Police, and the New York State Police. |

Tractor Trailer MVA - Geneseo - Monday - July 21st, 2008 A tractor-trailer carrying scrap cars overturned on Interstate 390 north in Geneseo around 6:30 p.m., July 21. The truck went off the east shoulder of the highway, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn. The scrap vehicles that were loaded on the flatbed trailer were then thrown and scattered across the embankment on the east side of the highway. Geneseo Fire and EMS as well as the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police responded to the scene. 2008 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported tractor trailer on fire on Rt. 63 near I-390 the morning of Monday July 7th, 2008. While enroute Livingston 911 updated Car 3101 that there were several calls reporting the truck was carrying cars and they were also involved in the fire. Car 3101 went on location with a working fire involving several vehicles. Car 3101 requested 1 pumper from Mt. Morris to assist. Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. |

Geneseo Fire Department extricated 1 victim who was transported by Geneseo Ambulance and Livingston County ALS and turned over to Mercy Flight. May 21st, 2008 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance along with Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a 1 Car MVA, vehicle into the tree on Avon Geneseo Road the morning of Tuesday, May 21st, 2008 at approximately 8:30am. Car 31 went on location with a car into the tree in the driveway, reported 2 injuries, and entrapment. Geneseo Fire Department extricated the patients in approximately 15 minutes. Two patients were transported to area hospitals. Mt Morris Ambulance stood by in Geneseo, while both of Geneseo's ambulances were on the call. Investigating the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police. |

MVA - Geneseo - Tuesday - November 27th, 2007 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance along with Livingston County ALS were dispatched to the scene, while Mercy Flight was placed on stand by, for the reported head on MVA, car vs tractor trailer on Rt. 39 in the area of Nations Road. Geneseo 3102 went on location and requested Mercy Flight to the scene. One victim was extricated and transported to the Geneseo Central School where the Landing Zone was set up. The patient was transferred to Mercy Flight and was flown to an area hospital. Investigating the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene was The New York State Police and the Geneseo Village Police Department. Livonia Ambulance covered calls in Geneseo while their ambulances were tied up with the MVA. |

Truck Company Operations Training - Livonia - Sunday
- September 24th, 2006 On Sunday September 24th the Livonia and Geneseo Fire Departments held a department training session at an old building at Camp Stella Maris in the Town of Livonia. The building was used for Truck Company Operations. Roof Ventilation and Forcible Entry evaluations were conducted. Firefighters were also able to practice survival skills. Structure Fire - Geneseo- Monday November 21st, 2005 On Monday November 21, 2005 at 221p the Geneseo Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 62 Second Street in the Village of Geneseo. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief D’Aprile found flames coming from a side window. The initial fire attack quickly knocked down and extinguished the fire. The majority of the fire damage was contained to the room of origin which was a room adjacent to the kitchen. There was smoke damage throughout the first floor of the residence. The tenant in the upstairs apartment was home at the time of the fire and suffered smoke inhalation. She was treated and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Geneseo Fire Department Ambulance and Livingston County ALS. The three pet cats in the residence all survived. The cause of the fire was investigated by Livingston County Fire Investigator Tom Pearson and determined to be a candle that was left burning by the homeowner. Haz Mat - Geneseo - Tuesday September 20th, 2005 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a fuel oil spill at the New York State Armory 34 Avon Road the morning of Tuesday September 20th, 2005. Car 31 reported a large fuel oil spill extending into the sewer systems. The Livingston County Haz Mat Team was requested to assist. |

Haz Mat - Geneseo - Friday August 5th, 2005 The Livingston County Haz Mat Team was called out on Friday August 5, 2005, to assist the Geneseo Fire Department at the scene of a diesel fuel spill on the West Lake Road in the Town of Geneseo. A tree service truck was attempting to exit the steep driveway and ruptured the fuel tank on the crown of the road and driveway. Approximately 80 gallons of fuel leaked from the 100 gallon tank. Even though a catch basin was located in the driveway, no fuel reached the basin or the lake. The Haz Mat Team transferred the spilled fuel from temporary containers to an over-pack drum and spread Speedy Dry on the oil and swept up the material. Structure Fire - Geneseo - Thursday - May 12th, 2005 The Geneseo Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Barn Fire at the Wadsworth Homestead on South Street on Thursday afternoon, May 12th, 2005. Director of Emergency Management Services Kevin Niedermaier reported the fire upon his investigation of the report of a "controlled burn". Coordinator Niedermaier found a working Barn Fire and Geneseo Fire Department was dispatched. Car 31, Chief Frank Manzo requested mutual aid from Cuylerville, Retsof, and Lakeville to the scene. Shed Fire - Geneseo - Friday - May 6th, 2005 At approximately 11:15 AM on Friday May 6, the Geneseo Fire Department was dispatched to a shed fire at 5012 Long Point Rd. in the Town of Geneseo. Responding units found a small, 14x14, shed with a roof fire next to a larger metal barn. The fire was quickly extinguished with little damage. A worker in the process of removing scarp metal from the recently purchased farm was using a chop saw to cut up steel. Sparks from the operation found their way to the old shake shingle roof and ignited a small portion. Fast action by the worker prevented more significant damage. New Ladder Truck for Geneseo
The new aerial truck the the Geneseo
Fire Department bought. The truck was pick up from West Haven Conn.
and driven home by Past Chief Chanler and the present C-31 Frank

Truck Fire – Geneseo - March 21st, 2005
Kevin Niedermaier, Director of
Emergency Management Services, reports that fire broke out at
approximately 12:30 PM on Monday March 21, 2005 in a vehicle owned
by Michael Button of 4947 Groveland Rd. in Geneseo. The truck was
parked in the driveway behind the house when the owner heard an
explosion and found his truck fully involved in fire. |

MCI - Geneseo - January 29th, 2005 The Geneseo Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS Medic 79 were dispatched to a reported Tour Bus vs Tractor Trailer MVA on I-390 South at the Groveland Road on Saturday afternoon January 29th 2005 at approximately 16:40hrs. Car 31 went on location with a Tour Bus rear ended a Tractor Trailer with multiple injured. A MCI was declared and several ambulances were brought to the scene. All ambulances in Livingston County were either at the scene, in staging, or back filling for other ambulance. The East Avon Fire Department was requested for 2 pumpers with their extrication tools. The Lakeville Fire Department was requested for the use of their light truck. Four Air Ambulance helicopters responded to the scene, a fifth was on stand bye. Three of the helicopters transported patients. All patients were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with implemented its Disaster Response Team. Despite the quick response by all responders, there were four fatalities on scene. Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Emergency Management Office, the Livingston County Haz Mat Team, the New York State DOT. MVA - Geneseo - Sun. Jan. 9th, 2005 The Geneseo Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported MVA with a person trapped on the West Lake Road; Sunday morning, January 10th, 2005 at approximately 7:40am. Responding personnel found a vehicle into a tree, with a person trapped, who had been there several hours. The extrication process was extensive and took a long time to accomplish. Mercy Flight was requested to the scene do to the nature of the injuries, extrication time, and the amount of time the subject had been in the vehicle. Investigating the accident is the New York State Police. Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Retsof Fire Department and Ambulance filled in for Geneseo while they were on this call. |

Apartment Fire - Geneseo November 4th, 2004 Geneseo Firefighters were dispatched to a reported apartment fire at 32 Main Street on Nov. 4, 2004 at approximately 2000 hrs. First arriving fire officers found a kitchen fire in a basement apartment. The fire was quickly controlled with extinguishers. The cause of the fire was determined to be an unattended stove burner. The apartment suffered extensive smoke damage. The law office on the main floor of the building did not sustain any damage. Story provided by Chief Andrew Chanler. |

MVA - Geneseo - Saturday - July 3rd, 2004 The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Roll Over MVA on Saturday Morning, July 3rd at approximately 1:00am on Avon Geneseo Road near Nations Road. East Avon Fire Department and Avon Ambulance also responded as the original call location was Avon Geneseo Road near Hogmire Road. Cars 3101 & 2701 went on location with a SUV rolled over in the ditch with all occupants out of the vehicle. Geneseo Ambulance and Avon Ambulance both transported patients to area hospitals. Investigating the cause of the Accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. As units were clearing this scene, Geneseo Fire and EMS were requested back to 56 Second Street. Car 3101 requested East Avon to respond and assist again. |

House Fire - Geneseo - Friday - July 2nd, 2004 The Geneseo Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to a reported porch fire at 56 Second Street, Friday evening July 2nd, 2004. Car 3102 went on location with a fully involved porch/working structure fire. Car 3101 arrived shortly and upgraded it for a fully involved structure fire. Assisting Geneseo at the seen was: East Avon, Retsof, Avon, Livonia, and Mt. Morris Fire Departments. Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management. Assisting at the scene was: the Geneseo Village Police Department, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, and the American Red Cross. Filling in for Geneseo was Mt. Morris Fire Department; for Avon was the Caledonia Fire Department; for East Avon was the Rush Fire Department; and for Retsof was the York Fire Department. MVA - Geneseo - Friday - July 2nd, 2004 The Geneseo Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Avon ALS Medic 70 were dispatched to a reported roll over MVA with a vehicle colliding with a tractor on Lima Road in the area of the 390 overpass on Friday afternoon, July 2nd, 2004. Geneseo Ambulance transported 2 victims to area hospitals. Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. |

MVA - Geneseo - Wednesday - June 30th, 2004 The Geneseo Fire Department, Geneseo Ambulance, and Medic 79 were dispatched to a reported multi vehicle MVA on Genesee Street (Rt. 63) at the entrance to the SUNY Geneseo Campus on Wednesday afternoon June 30th, 2004. Responding units found a tractor trailer had rear ended the last vehicle in line waiting for a traffic light to change, there were a total of 5 vehicles involved in the accident. Geneseo Command requested Mercy Flight to the scene. This accident turned into a double fatal and Geneseo Ambulance transported 2 additional patients to area hospitals. Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police, the Geneseo Police Department, the Retsof Fire Department, and SUNY Geneseo Police Department. The East Avon Fire Department filled in for Geneseo while they were at the scene. |

Apartment Complex Fire - Geneseo - Saturday April 17th, 2004 The Geneseo Fire and EMS were dispatched to a "Smoke Detector Going Off" in an apartment at 12 Hillside Drive, Apartment 5 (the Meadows Apartment Complex), on Saturday April 1tth, 2004 at 3:55pm. Upon arrival of the Fire Chief and Geneseo Police Officer Christopher Haley, light smoke was in the area. Nearby apartment tenants heard smoke detectors going off of an unoccupied apartment. Officer Haley found fire beginning to come thru a downstairs window in the rear of the apartment. A "working fire" was declared by the Fire Chief. A crew from East Avon Fire Department Station #2 was requested to the scene and a crew from Retsof Fire Department to stand by in the Geneseo Fire Station. The fire was quickly knocked down by initial attack crews. Two cats were found by firefighters and quickly removed. Both pets were unharmed. The fire was caused by a tenant that had left a pot on the stove. Smoke and fire damage was limited to the apartment of origin. There were no injuries. Story provided by Andrew Chanler.
