Water Supply Drill - Wyoming - Monday - August 24th, 2009

On Monday August 24th. Wyoming Fire Department conducted water supply operations at the First Baptist Church on Main Street in the Village of Wyoming.   Pavilion 78 set up a draft at the dry hydrant on main street  to supply tankers. Two port-a-tanks were set up at the corner of Main St. & Maple St. where Wyoming No.1 drafted to feed a LDH supply line to Wyoming No.5 positioned in front of the simulated fire building. Wyoming No.5 supplied a LDH supply line to Wyoming No.3 at the rear of the church and deployed two hand lines. Wyoming No.3 deployed two hand lines and operated a deck gun. Departments participating in the drill with Wyoming were Warsaw, Perry Center, Pavilion and Bethany.  Story and Photos by Jay Lynch.

 
Structure Fire - Perry Center - Saturday - March 21st, 2009

The Perry Center & Perry Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported barn fire at 2008 Simmons Road at approximately 02:30 am on Saturday morning, March 21st, 2009.  While responding Perry Center 50 requested a 2nd Alarm to be put on Stand By In Quarters.  Command went on location, reported a working fire, and requested the 2nd Alarm to respond.  Leicester was requested for 1 pumper and Cuylerville for 1 tanker to the scene.  Mt. Fatal Structure Fire - Perry Center - Monday - January 19th, 2009

On Monday January 19th., The Perry and Perry Center Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a possible structure fire near the Perry Center Fire Hall on Route 246 in the Town of Perry.  Perry Center 50 went on location and confirmed a working fire and requested assistance from Warsaw, Wyoming, Castile, Leicester and Pavilion.  The fire was in a two unit apartment house at 2839 route 246 and unfortunately during the extinguishing of the fire it was discovered that a 74 year old woman had perished  The temperature at the time of the fire was in the single digits making it even more difficult to fight. Silver Springs was requested for a Rescue and Interior firefighters to assist with overhaul and too spell wet and cold fireman.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

Structure Fire - Sheldon - Saturday - November 1st, 2008

While assisting North Java, Sheldon Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire at 2693 North Sheldon Road.  Responding equipment reported a working fire and requested a 2nd alarm to this fire.  Fill in companies and units clearing the first fire in North Java responded.

 
Structure Fire - North Java - Saturday - November 1st, 2008

The early morning of Saturday November 1st, 2008 a Wyoming County Deputy on routine patrol advised Wyoming Co. Dispatch that he was following a large glow that appeared to be possibly a barn fire in the area of Rt 77 and Rt. 20A in North Java.  North Java Fire Department was dispatched with automatic structure fire mutual aid.  North Java Chief went on location, reported a fully involved barn fire, and requested a 2nd alarm assignment.  Multi mutual aid fire departments from Wyoming, Genesee, and Erie Counties responded.

 
Structure Fire - Perry Center - Saturday - February 9th, 2008

On Saturday February 9th at 04:47 the Perry and Perry Center Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 6670 La Grange Rd in the town of Covington. Arriving fire units declared a working Barn fire and requested a 2nd alarm bringing fire equipment from Wyoming, Livingston and Genesee County's to the scene.  Fire fighting efforts were hampered by very icy conditions on the fire ground. Wyoming County fire dispatch center experienced radio problems at the time of the fire.  Wyoming County could transmit, but could not receive transmission from responding apparatus.  Livingston County assisted with relaying request to Wyoming County until Wyoming County could establish communications on Wyoming County Frequency 5. Several  fire departments assisted Perry and Perry Center at the scene or on standby, including  Pike, Genesee Falls, Warsaw, Wyoming, Castile, Leicester, Cuylerville, York, Mount Morris and Pavilion.  Sorry if we missed anyone.  Story and photos by Jay Lynch.

Structure Fire - Wyoming- Wednesday - November 28th, 2007

The Wyoming and Dale Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported house fire on Comet Road at the intersection of Sage Road the morning of Wednesday November 28th, 2007.  Wyoming 50 went on location and declared a working fire and requested a 2nd Alarm.  This had to be modified do to a 3 Alarm fire in Stykersville.  Assisting Wyoming and Dale at the scene or fill ins were the following fire departments: Warsaw, Perry, Perry Center, Bethany, Pavilion, Leroy, Stafford, and York.

 
MVA - Silver Springs - Wednesday - November 28th, 2007

The Silver Springs Fire Department and Castile Ambulance were dispatched to a MVA on West Lake Road the morning of Wednesday November 28th, 2007.  Castile Ambulance transported one patient to WCCH.

 
Structure Fire - Strykersville- Wednesday - November 28th, 2007

The Stykersville Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire at in a Warehouse in Java Village the morning of Wednesday November 28th, 2007.  Stykersville Command reported a large warehouse well involved and quickly requested a 2nd and 3rd alarm bringing equipment and manpower to the scene from Wyoming, Erie, and Genesee Counties.

 
Structure Fire - Wyoming- Sunday- November 18th, 2007

On Sunday November 18th the Wyoming Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Sherman Avenue in the Village of Wyoming.  First arriving Wyoming fire units encountered a working barn fire with exposure problems and requested second and third alarms bringing fire units from Wyoming, Genesee and Livingston County's to the scene.  Fire units either at the scene or on standby were: From Wyoming County, Wyoming, Warsaw, Perry, Perry Center, Attica, Castile, Gainesville, Bennington, Silver Springs and Wyoming Correctional.  From Genesee County,  Pavilion, Bethany, Alexander, Stafford and LeRoy.  From Livingston County, York, Leicester, Caledonia and East Avon.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

 
Structure Fire - Perry ~ Perry Center - Sunday - July 1st, 2007

On Sunday July 1st. Perry and Perry Center Fire Departments along with Perry EMS were dispatched at 11:37 am to a reported house fire at 6749 Oatka Rd in the Town of Perry. First arriving fire units encountered a house that was well involved. A second alarm was requested sending Castile, Warsaw, Silver Springs, and Wyoming to the scene and Leicester, Pavilion, Genesee Falls and Bethany on standby. A water supply was established by a tanker shuttle from a near by pond. An aggressive attack was mounted but unfortunately the house suffered extensive damage.  Story & photos provided by Jay Lynch.

 
MVA - Perry ~ Perry Center - Tuesday - May 29th, 2007

The Perry and Perry Center Fire Departments along with Perry Ambulance and Wyoming County Medic 80 were dispatched to a reported MVA with injuries on Rt. 39 in front of the Perry Cycle Works the morning of Tuesday May 29th, 2007.  Mercy Flight was requested to the scene to transport a patient.

 
Structure Fire - Perry - Saturday - May 26th, 2007

The alarm that no fire fighter wants to hear occurred Saturday Morning May 26th, 2007 in Perry Center.  Perry Center and Perry Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Perry Center Fire Station on Rt. 246 in the Hamlet of Perry Center.  Perry Center 501 went on location and immediately requested a Second Alarm.  Responding on the second alarm were: Warsaw, Wyoming, Pavilion, Castile, Wyoming Correctional and Leicester Fire Departments.  Castile Fire Department also filled in for Perry Fire Department and York Fire Department filled in for Leicester Fire Department.  Additional ambulances responded from Warsaw and Castile.  Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation.  Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

Structure Fire - Perry - Tuesday - September 26th, 2006.

The Perry and Perry Center Fire Departments and Perry Ambulance were dispatched to investigate smoke in the building, the former Champion Products, 18 Tempest St, Village of Perry the morning of Tuesday September 26th, 2006.  Perry 50 went on location, declared a working fire, and requested a second alarm.  Assisting Perry and Perry Center at the scene or filling in for companies at the scene was the following fire departments:  Castile, Gainesville, Silver Springs, Warsaw, Wyoming, Pavilion, LeRoy, Leicester, Cuylerville, and Mt. Morris.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Wyoming County Fire Coordinators Office.  Assisting at the scene was Medic 80 from Wyoming County Community Hospital and the Perry Police Department.  Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

 

Controlled Burn - Attica - Saturday - September 16th, 2006

On Saturday September 16th the Attica Fire Department hosted a controlled burn at 51 South Pearl St. in the Village.  The old vacant house that was used for this drill was very close ( 40' ) to an adjacent structure. Large quantities of water were at the ready. In all, 6 Port-a-tanks and two hydrants were hit. Master streams were set up as well as many hand lines. Because of the proximity to the house next door a water curtain was also set up  Departments from Genesee and Wyoming county's assisting Attica were Alexander, Bethany, Darien, Town of Batavia, North Java, Bennington, Varysburg, Warsaw and Wyoming.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.
