MVA ~ Geneseo ~ Saturday ~ December 30th, 2006

 MVA ~ Geneseo ~ Thursday ~ December 28th, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance along with Livingston County ALS and Mercy Flight on stand by were dispatched to a reported two car MVA on Interstate 390 North near Lima Road the evening of Thursday December 28th, 2006.  Car 31 went on location with a 2 car MVA and requested Mercy Flight launched and East Avon Fire Department to set up a landing zone at Exit 9.  Geneseo Ambulance transported one patient to an area hospital.  Mercy Flight landed, however do the nature of the injuries, were unable to fly the patient.  Unfortunately despite the efforts of all involved, one fatality occurred as a result of the accident.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police and the Livingston County District Attorneys Office.  Pictures provided by Jeff Arnold.

 Car Fire ~ Geneseo ~ Friday ~ December 22nd, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported car fire on the SUNY Campus at the B Lot on Park Ave. on Friday December 22nd.  Car 3101 went on location with vehicle fire.  The cause of the fire was determined to be a faulty heater motor and damage to the vehicle was extensive.  Investigating the cause of the fire was the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the SUNY Geneseo University Police.  Story  and Photos provided by Tom Pearson.

Hunting Accident ~ Leicester ~ Sunday ~ November 19^th, 2006

On Sunday November 19^th, Retsof and York Fire Departments and EMS and Livingston County ALS were dispatched along with Law Enforcement for a reported hunter with a gunshot wound somewhere near the intersection of Chandler and Retsof Roads in York.  Car 17 went on location in the area with nothing found.  Further contact with the caller by the Livingston County 911 Center updated the location to River Road somewhere near the York – Leicester Town Line.  Units soon located a group of hunters waiting roadside on River Road just into the Town of Leicester.  The group related that the injured hunter was several hundred yards off the road into a brush lot.  Car 17 requested Mercy Flight placed in the air and requested the Gator from Cuylerville.  The hunter was extricated from the brush lot within a half hour of the initial call and was transported by Mercy Flight Batavia to Strong Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hip.  Investigating at the scene were the Livingston County Sheriffs Office, New York State Encon Police, and the New York State Police.

Controlled Burn ~ Leicester ~ Sunday ~ November 12th, 2006

On Sunday November 12th  The Leicester Fire Department conducted a live burn exercise at 49 Pleasant St. in the Village of Leicester.  This house had been  heavily damaged by fire on August 28th. Four Port-a-Tanks and multiple hand lines were set up as well as a master stream to cover exposures on both sides and across the Street.  A tanker shuttle was set up to supply the Port-a-Tanks and Two LDH Supply Lines were laid precautionary from hydrants but not charged. Leicester was assisted by Cuylerville, York / Retsof, Mount Morris, and Perry Fire Departments and Cuylerville Ambulance.  Story and Photos by Jay Lynch.

Training Burn - Geneseo - Saturday - November 11th, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department held a training exercise on Saturday morning, November 11th, 2006 on E. South Street at the Yutzy residence. The residence was burned to make way for a new church.  Assisting Geneseo at the scene was the Geneseo Ambulance and the Livonia Fire Department.  Standing by for Geneseo was the Lakeville Fire Department.  Click here for Photos.

Car Fire - Cuylerville - Thursday - November 9th, 2006

The Cuylerville and Leicester Fire Departments and Cuylerville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire on Rt. 36 near Jones Bridge Road the evening of Thursday, November 9th, 2006.  Leicester Car 13 went on location with a fully involved vehicle fire.  The vehicle caught fire after it had collided with a deer. Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

MVA - Caledonia - Wednesday - November 8th, 2006

The Caledonia Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a 3 car MVA on Rt.5 near the 5 & 20 Split on Wednesday Morning, November 8th.  Car 1102 went on location on the Rt 5 bridge over the Genesee River, just a few feet into Caledonia from Avon.  Two patients were transported to an area hospital.  Assisting at the scene was the Avon Fire Department Fire Police, the Avon Village Police Department and the Caledonia Village Police Department.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Click here for photos.

Barn Fire - East Avon - Saturday - November 4th, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department & Avon Ambulance were dispatched to a reported barn fire on South Lima Rd on Saturday afternoon November 4th, 2006.  Car 2702 went on location with smoke showing and a working fire.  The Lakeville and Livonia Fire Departments were requested to the scene for water and extra man power.  The Avon Fire Department filled in East Avon.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Photos provided by Jeffrey Arnold.

Structure Fire - Leicester - Tuesday - October 31st, 2006

Leicester Fire Department was dispatched Tuesday morning, October 31 To 134 Main Street, The Elijah House for an automatic alarm of Fire. Car 13 went on location and encountered  smoke and fire on the second floor. Mutual aid was requested from Cuylerville, Mount Morris, York/Retsof, Perry, Mount Morris Ambulance, Geneseo Ambulance and Livingston County EMS. The bulk of the fire was contained to a bed room  by an internal sprinkler system. Pictures and story provided by Jay Lynch.

MVA - Pavilion - Tuesday - October 31st, 2006

The Pavilion Fire Department along with a ALS Ambulance from the City of Batavia were dispatched to a reported Motorcycle vs Deer MVA on Rt 20, near the Livingston County Line, the morning of October 31st, 2006.  Responding equipment discovered a motorcyclist had hit a deer and had been thrown from his motorcycle. After being thrown from the motorcycle he the operator was then run over by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The operator of that vehicle, was able to quickly stop a tractor trailer from running over the victim a second time.  Unfortunately, the victim died from his injuries at the scene.  Investigating the accident is the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting with traffic control was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

Wildlife Rescue ~ East Avon ~ Saturday ~ October 28th, 2006

Just before 8am on Saturday October 28th, 2006 the Livingston County Sheriff's Office E911 Center received a call for a bird, possibly a crane stuck in a tree and tangled in fish line, on Sackett Road near Linden Street in Avon.  Avon PD was dispatched and located the bird, a Great Blue Heron, hanging from a tree, just into the Town of Avon on Sackett Road.  The bird had fish line tangled around it legs.  The fish line went across the road, around another tree, back across the road again, over a branch, and a hook was in the Birds wing.  Avon PD stood by while the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the NYS DEC were notified and responded.  Also notified was a Chief from the East Avon Fire Department to respond.  After consulting with area wild bird rehabilitators, it was learned that this was going to be a dangerous rescue, do to the large bill on the bird.  It was then decided that both East Avon and Avon's quints would be needed to perform the rescue.  Do to the danger involved, Avon Ambulance was requested to stand by at the scene.  East Avon's Quint 278 was used so the bird could relax and have a place to perch while Avon's Quint 228 was used to raise DEC Office Wade and DEC Bureau of Environmental Conservation Investigator Thomas to retrieve the bird.  After a successful rescue the bird was transported to a rehabilitator where the bird will be treated for any injuries, observed, and then released back into the wild when healed.  Great Blue Herons are a Federal Protected species which made the rescue a necessity.  Agencies at the scene were: East Avon Fire Department, Avon Fire Department, Avon Rotary ~ Lions Ambulance, Avon Village Police, Livingston County Sheriff's Office, and the NYS DEC.  Photos provided by Sgt. MVA ~ Geneseo ~ Tuesday ~ October 24th, 2006

On Tuesday, October 24, Geneseo Fire/EMS and Medic 79 responded to an MVA on West Lake Road at Eagle Point. Car 31 reported a car over the guardrail into some pine trees with a person trapped. Found Portable Pond - Rt. 36 Town of York

On Monday October 23th, 2006 the Livingston County Sheriff's Office responded to Rt. 36 in the Town of York as a passer by reported a object beside the road that appeared to be a fire departments portable pond.  It turned out to be a portable pond.  If your department is missing a portable pond, contact the Livingston County Sheriff's Office at 243-7100 and describe it, to claim it.

Controlled Burn ~ Pavilion ~ Saturday ~ October 21st, 2006

Pavilion Fire Department conducted a controlled burn at 9820 South St. on Saturday morning October 21st. The object of the burn was an old barn that was in very close proximity to two adjacent structures. Hand lines and master streams were set up to protect the exposures. A 1000' of 5" LDH Supply line was laid from a hydrant as well as two port-a-tanks and a tanker shuttle.  Assisting Pavilion were Stafford, Bethany, York, Retsof, Caledonia with Wyoming and East Avon on Standby.  Story and Photos by Jay Lynch.

Foam Training ~ Leicester ~ Wednesday ~ October 18th, 2006

On Wednesday October 18th, The Leicester and Pavilion Fire Departments trained on there new KME trucks at the Leicester Fire Hall. A representative from FoamPro was on hand to assist with training on the new Foam Systems that each truck is equipped with. MVA ~ York ~ Thursday ~ October 19th, 2006

The York and Retsof Fire Departments and Ambulances were dispatched to a reported two car head on MVA on River Road at Mt. Pleasant Road.  York Car 15 went on location with a two car MVA and multiple victims.  York, Retsof, and Caledonia Ambulances with ALS from Caledonia and Livingston County ALS transported victims to area hospitals.  Geneseo Ambulance filled in Retsof while York and Retsof were out.

Livingston County Deployed for Storm Relief

Units Deployed to Western NY for Storm Relief- Friday, October 13, 2006 the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control once again activated to State Mutual Aid System to send relief units to storm ravaged Erie and Orleans Counties after those counties received more than 24” of snow overnite.  The storm shut down nearly all the roads in the counties west of here, brought down trees and wires, causing power outages to over a quarter million people.  At 6AM Office of Emergency Management Director Kevin Niedermaier alerted all county fire chiefs for an emergency meeting at the Hampton Corners Training Facility.  OEM Director Niedermaier relayed to the county representatives that the State was requesting Pumper, 4wd Service, and EMS strike teams from across the state.  11 departments took the challenge and deployed units.   Avon, Caledonia, Cuylerville, Dansville, East Avon, Geneseo, Groveland, Leicester, Livonia, Mt. Morris, and York & Retsof assisted Erie and Orleans Counties at various times from Friday October 13th until Wednesday October 18th.

Units were deployed at 9 AM and were expected to be out 24 to 36 hours.

Structure Fires ~ Mt. Morris ~ Saturday ~ October 14th, 2006

On Saturday Morning October 14th The Mount Morris Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 18 Genesee St. in the  Village of Mount Morris. Arriving units were faced with a fully involved structure with extension to 20 Genesee St. Departments assisting Mount Morris were Leicester,  Cuylerville, Retsof, Perry, Livingston County Haz Mat, Geneseo Ambulance, Mount Morris Ambulance and Pavilion on standby at Leicester.  Story and photos provided by Jay Lynch.

MVA - Cuylerville - Tuesday - September 26th, 2006

The Cuylerville Fire Department, Cuylerville Ambulance, and Leicester Fire Department were dispatched to a reported car vs. tractor trailer MVA Thursday evening September 28th, 2006 at approximately 9pm at the intersection of Mt. Morris Road and Jones Bridge Road.  Responding units found a car had failed to stop at a stop sign was hit by a tractor trailer.  One patient was transported to an area hospital by Cuylerville Ambulance.  Investigating the cause of is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

MVA - Mumford - Tuesday - September 26th, 2006

The Mumford Fire Department and the Caledonia Ambulance with ALS were dispatched to a reported MVA roll over with ejection on North Road near Riga Mumford road the afternoon of Tuesday September 26th, 2006.  Mumford Command reported 2 victims had been ejected from the car.  Churchville and Scottsville Ambulances and ALS from Henrietta assisted Caledonia and Mumford.

MVA - Cuylerville - Tuesday - September 26th, 2006

The Cuylerville Fire Department, Cuylerville Ambulance, and Leicester Fire Department were dispatched to a reported car vs. tractor trailer MVA Tuesday afternoon September 26th, 2006 at approximately 5pm at the intersection of US Highway 20A and Barrett Road.  Responding units found a car had rear ended a tractor trailer.  One patient was transported to an area hospital by Cuylerville Ambulance.  Investigating the cause of is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police.

The Perry and Perry Center Fire Departments and Perry Ambulance were dispatched to investigate smoke in the building, the former Champion Products, 18 Tempest St, Village of Perry the morning of Tuesday September 26th, 2006.  Perry 50 went on location, declared a working fire, and requested a second alarm.  Assisting Perry and Perry Center at the scene or filling in for companies at the scene was the following fire departments:  Castile, Gainesville, Silver Springs, Warsaw, Wyoming, Pavilion, LeRoy, Leicester, Cuylerville, and Mt. Morris.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Wyoming County Fire Coordinators Office.  Assisting at the scene was Medic 80 from Wyoming County Community Hospital and the Perry Police Department.  Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

Controlled Burn - Pembroke ~ Indian Falls - Monday - September 25th, 2006

Pembroke and Indian Fall Fire Departments hosted a live burn drill on September 25th. A large Barn on County Line Rd in the Town of Pembroke was the object of the training exercise. Tankers shuttled water from nearby fire hydrants to two port-a-tanks that were set up at the scene of the drill.  Departments from Genesee and Erie County's that participated in the exercise with Pembroke and Indian Falls were Darien, Corfu, Crittenden and Akron.  Photos and story provided by Jay Lynch.

On Sunday September 24th the Livonia and Geneseo Fire Departments held a department training session at an old building at Camp Stella Maris in the Town of Livonia.  The building was used for Truck Company Operations.  Roof Ventilation and Forcible Entry evaluations were conducted.  Firefighters were also able to practice survival skills. MVA - York ~ Retsof - Wednesday   September 21st, 2005

The York and Retsof Fire Departments and Ambulances along with Caledonia ALS Medic 77 were dispatched to a reported car vs tractor trailer MVA at the intersection of York Road West and Main St York the morning of Wednesday September 21st at approximately 7:30am.  York Car 15 went on location with 3 injuries and requested Mercy Flight to be launched and additional ambulances.  Mercy Flight and both of Caledonia's ambulances transported patients to area hospitals.  Geneseo Ambulance stood by for York and Retsof while they were at the scene and cleaned up from the accident.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police.

Controlled Burn - Pembroke ~ Indian Falls - Monday - September 18th, 2006

Pembroke and Indian Falls Fire Departments conducted a live burn exercise on an old run down house on County Line Rd in the Town of Pembroke. The Monday Night drill involved departments from Genesee and Erie County's. Driver Training - Leicester - Sunday - September 17th, 2006

Sunday September 17th the Leicester Fire Department held a training session on the new apparatus that they have received. Setting up at a dry hydrant on Peoria Rd in the town. Controlled Burn - Attica - Saturday - September 16th, 2006

On Saturday September 16th the Attica Fire Department hosted a controlled burn at 51 South Pearl St. in the Village.  The old vacant house that was used for this drill was very close ( 40' ) to an adjacent structure. Large quantities of water were at the ready. In all, 6 Port-a-tanks and two hydrants were hit. Master streams were set up as well as many hand lines. Because of the proximity to the house next door a water curtain was also set up  Departments from Genesee and Wyoming county's assisting Attica were Alexander, Bethany, Darien, Town of Batavia, North Java, Bennington, Varysburg, Warsaw and Wyoming.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

Controlled Burn - Batavia - Monday - September 11th, 2006

The Town of Batavia Fire Department under the direction of Chief Paul Dibble conducted a controlled burn on Monday night September 11th.  The object of the burn was a barn on Pearl St. in the Town of Batavia. Approximately 1800' of LDH supply line was laid with a pumper at the hydrant  and one half way to the scene.  The long LDH line was laid so traffic on Pearl St. ( Rout 33 ) would not be interrupted.  The Towns Platform was set up to protect the house that was about 150' away from the barn.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

Glenn Camuto from the Dansville Fire Department provided this memorial on the 5th Anniversary of 9-11-01.  Glenn does custom artwork for the fire service and made this as a tribute to our fallen brothers 5 years ago.

   Controlled Burn - Livonia - September 10th, 2006

On Sunday September 10th, The Livonia Fire Department conducted a live fire exercise at an old cottage on Conesus Lake.  The cottage at 5735 Old Orchard Pt had been used by the fire department previously  for training. House Fire - Honeoye - Tuesday September 5th, 2006

Several Fire Departments from Ontario County along with Springwater Fire Department and Livonia Fire Department responded to a house fire on Co Highway 37 in Canadice the early morning of Tuesday September 5th, 2006.  Lakeville Fire Department provided a rescue truck and Geneseo provided a Pumper to fill in the Livonia Fire Station.  Fire Departments from Ontario and Yates Counties filled in for Fire Departments from Ontario County who were at the scene.  Click here for Photos provided by Jeffrey Arnold.

Lake Rescue - Hemlock - Monday - September 4th, 2006

The Hemlock Fire Department, Livonia Fire Department, Livonia EMS and Livonia ALS were dispatched to a reported man in the water on Hemlock Lake the Labor Day Morning, Monday September 4th, 2006.  The victim had been rescued from the water by a fisherman.  Responding rescuers transported the victim to Livonia Ambulance by boat, where the victim was transported to an area hospital.  An intense search continued incase there were more victims in the water, do to the first victim being unconscious.  It was later confirmed that there were no other victims.  East Avon filled in for Livonia and Hemlock Fire Departments.  Lakeville stood by in Livonia with a Rescue and an additional boat, if it were needed.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston and Ontario County Sheriff's Offices and the Honeoye Fire Department.  Click here for Photos provided by Jeffrey Arnold.

Structure Fire - Caledonia - Saturday - September 2nd, 2006

On Saturday September 2nd, 2006 the Caledonia Fire Department and Genesee Valley Ambulance were dispatched to a reported house fire on East Ave. in the Village.  Command reported a working fire and requested Avon and Scottsville to the scene and LeRoy to stand by  in Caledonia.  Assisting at the scene was the Caledonia Village Police.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management. 

Structure Fire - LeRoy - Friday - September 1st, 2006

On Friday September 1st. LeRoy Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm activation at Icon Design at 9 Lent Avenue in the Village.  Command reported a working fire and requested Bergen to the scene and Caledonia to stand by  in LeRoy.  LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance stood by at the scene of the Fire.  East Avon was requested to stand by in Caledonia.  Story and Photos by Jay Lynch.

MVA - Geneseo - Friday - September 1st, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance along with Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported MVA on Lakeville Road in front of the McDonald's Restaurant the afternoon of Friday September 1st, 2006.  Responding equipment reported a two MVA blocking traffic.  Both of Geneseo's Ambulances and a ambulance from Livonia transported patients to an area hospitals.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Geneseo Village Police Department.

 MVA - Lima - Friday - September 1st, 2006

The Lima Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported MVA on York Street the afternoon of Friday September 1st, 2006.  Responding equipment found a MVA with utility pole sheared off.  Lima Ambulance transported one patient to an area hospital.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

 MVA - East Avon - Friday - September 1st, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department and Avon Ambulance were dispatched to a reported two car MVA with people trapped on Rt. 5 & 20 at Dutch Hollow Road the afternoon of Friday September 1st, 2006.  Responding equipment found a two car MVA with no one trapped.  Avon Ambulance transported one patient to an area hospital.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the New York State Police.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

     House Fire - Hemlock - Friday  September 1st, 2006

The Hemlock Fire Department and Livonia Ambulance were dispatched to a reported house fire with people still in the residence at approximately 4:15am, Friday, September 1st, 2006.  Responding personnel found heavy smoke showing and a person still in the residence.  Livingston County Sheriff's Office Personnel were in the residence and convinced the resident that they had to leave.  Assisting Hemlock was the Livonia Fire Department.  Fill ins were: Honeoye Fire Department in Hemlock and Lakeville Fire Department in Livonia.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.

  Apartment Fire - Geneseo - Thursday - August 31st, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported apartment fire on Jacqueline Way the morning of Thursday August 31st, 2006 at approximately 11am.  Responding firefighters quickly extinguished a minor fire in the kitchen.  Assisting at the scene was the Geneseo Police Department, Livingston County ALS, and Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.   Click here for Photos.

MVA - Wednesday - Pavilion - August 30th, 2006

The Pavilion Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Car vs. Tractor Trailer MVA on Rt. 63 in the area of Texico Town on Wednesday afternoon August 30th, 2006.  Pavilion Command requested LeRoy FD to assist with extrication and Bergen FD to assist with a Landing Zone for Mercy Flight.  Two patients were transported by Mercy Flight to area hospitals. One patient was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital.  York and Restof Fire Department filled in for Pavilion, Caledonia Fire Department filled in for LeRoy, and East Avon Fire Department filled in for Caledonia.

House Fire - Leicester - Monday - August 28th, 2006

The Leicester Fire Department and Cuylerville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported drier fire on Monday afternoon August 28th, 2006 at approximately 4:45pm.  Arriving chiefs were met with heavy smoke and declared a working fire.  Cuylerville and Retsof Fire Departments responded to the scene to assist.  The Mt. Morris Fire Department stood by for Leicester and Cuylerville.  Mt. Morris Ambulance with Medic 75 transported one patient to an area hospital.  Geneseo Ambulance provided an ambulance for rehab.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the Northern Livingston Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Jay Lynch provided Photos.

Leicester ~ New KME/Spartan Pumper

Members of the Leicester Fire Department traveled to the KME Factory in Pennsylvania on Monday August 14th to preview  their new trucks.  Finally delivery is expected near the end of August.  Here are pictures of their new Pumper 134 a built by KME on a Spartan Chassis.

Burn Drill - Caledonia - Feeley Road - August 12th, 2006

Caledonia Fire Department hosted a burn drill on Saturday morning August 12th, 2006.  The burn was a barn on Feeley Road.  Caledonia laid 2300 feet of 5 inch hose which was supplied by a tanker shuttle.  Assisting Caledonia was East Avon, Avon, York, Retsof, Mumford, Churchville, Scottsville, and Clifton.  Filling in for Caledonia was 1 pumper from LeRoy and 1 Tanker from Stafford.  Filling in for York and Restof was Cuylerville.  Pictures provided by Joe Caluorie.

Burn Drill - Retsof - August 6th, 2006

On Sunday morning August 6th the Retsof Fire Department held a live fire training exercise in an old barn at 2455 Rout 63 in the Town of York.  The barn was being removed to make room for a house to be relocated on the property.  Due to the close proximity of the house to the barn a large quantity of water was at the ready.  Four port-a-tanks were set up as well as a LDH lay from a hydrant across the road.  Burn Drill - LeRoy - August 5th, 2006

LeRoy Fire Department conducted a controlled burn at the former Willard Motel on Route 5 on Saturday August 5th.  Rout 5 was closed to all traffic for a time while the operation was conducted.  Departments assisting LeRoy were, LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance, Bergen, Stafford and Caledonia Fire Departments.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

MVA - East Avon - Wednesday - August 2nd, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department, Avon Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS Medic 79 responded to a Roll Over MVA on Wednesday August 2nd, 2006 on Fowlerville Road between Nations Road an the Genesee River.  Responding equipment found 1 vehicle on its top with the driver out of the vehicle.  East Avon Command had Station 2 handle the call and placed Station 1 back in service.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the New York State Police.

Injured Explorer Firefighter

On Thursday July 27th, 2006 the son of an Avon Fire Fighter and an Explorer Firefighter in the Avon Fire Department suffered a eye injury caused by a BB ricocheting into his eye.  At this time it is unsure if he will loss the site in his eye.  The family is at this time meeting with Eye Specialist at hospital(s) outside of the Rochester area and also outside New York State.  Please keep the Avon Fire Department in your thoughts during this traumatic time among its membership.  When more information is available it will be provided.  At this time the Livingston Area Fireline Network is not releasing any names involved.

Spring 2006 Firefighter 1 Class

This years Spring Firefighter I class held at the  Livingston County training center at Hamptons Corners. The class started on April 4th and ran through June 29th. Thirty-five firefighters showed up on the first night but due to the 20 student limit, the class was split between State Instructors Mike Levey and Brian Mastin. Controlled Burn Drill - Groveland - Sunday July 30th, 2006

Car Fire - Dansville - Sunday - July 23rd, 2006

The Dansville Fire Department was dispatched to Franklin Street @ Milton Street in the Village of Dansville at 19:46 hrs on Sunday July 23rd, 2006 for the reported vehicle fire.  The call came in with multiple calls to 9-1-1 and DPD reporting a fully involved truck fire.  Some calls placing it at VanHynings Gas Station.  Upon arrival of firefighter’s in personal vehicles & DPD, reported people still in truck.  DPD and Firefighter’s tried to put it out with extinguishers to check for victims.  None found in truck.  Small “explosion” under the hood forced them to back off and await equipment.  514 & 515 responded extinguishing the fire.  815 responded to check the driver and his pre-school son.  C-3 and C-8 investigated the fire with DPD & DFD  Story and photos provided by Jeff Faugh.

Controlled Burn Drill - Bergen - Sunday - July 15th, 2006

On Saturday July 15th The Bergen Fire Department hosted a training exercise in an old house on West Bergen Rd in the Town of Bergen. The home at 7246 West Bergen Rd  was used for multiple interior fire fighting exercise throughout the morning. At the end of the interior evaluations a controlled burn was held. Trailer Fire - West Sparta - Wednesday July 12th, 2006

Shortly after 2:00pm on Wednesday July 12th, 2006, tones were dropped dispatching West Sparta Fire Department to a trailer fire at the intersection of Coffee Hill Road and Rt. 36.  While enroute, a full assignment from Dansville Fire Department was requested.  First on scene Dansville Fire Chief Joe Snyder and his crew found a fully involved trailer with flames coming from the center of the trailer.  Additional tankers were requested from Groveland and Perkinsville Fire Departments.  No one was injured in the fire with the homeowner escaping the flames as the fire started.  Dansville Ambulance crews and Livingston County EMS Medic 78 were on scene tending to firefighters who fought the fire in the 80 plus degree heat.  Story and photos provided by Tom Pearson.

Burn Drill - West Sparta - Sunday - July 9th, 2006

On Sunday July 9th the West Sparta Fire Department conducted a controlled burn on Kemp Rd in the Town of West Sparta. The object of the live fire exercise was a house that was being removed to make room for a new one. Two MVAs - East Avon - Friday - July 7th, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department, Avon Ambulance, and Avon ALS Medic 70 were dispatched to a reported vehicle vs. bicycle MVA at approximately 11:00am Friday July 7th, 2006.  Avon Ambulance with ALS transported one patient to an area hospital.  Investigating the accident is the New York State Police.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

While Avon Ambulance and East Avon Fire were packaging the patient for transport, East Avon Fire Department, Caledonia Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS Medic 79 were dispatched to a dump truck rolled over, several times, at the intersection of Barber Road and East River Road.  2702 went on location with a dump truck rolled over and the patient out of the vehicle.  ALS Medic 79 arrived and requested a Medical Helicopter.  Mercy Flight Central responded.  East Avon set up a LZ at Gray Metal Products.  Caledonia Ambulance transported the patient approximately 1/2 mile and ALS Medic 79 and Caledonia turned the patient over to Mercy Flight.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Click here for photos.

Farm Machinery Fire - East Avon - July 6th, 2006

Shortly before 3 on Thursday July 6, the East Avon Fire Department was dispatched to a working farm machinery fire at 4599 Papermill Rd. in the Town of Avon.  Flames were quickly extinguished by the first in crews led by Chief Andy Eichhorn.  The 1989 Hay Chopper was a total loss.  Story and Photos provided by Tom Pearson.

Structure Fire with Person Trapped Avon  Monday July 3rd, 2006

The Avon Fire Department and Avon Ambulance with ALS Medic 70 were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Glen Apartments on Sackett Road the evening of Monday July 3rd, 2006.  Avon command requested a response from East Avon to the scene.  Two Avon firefighters and a firefighter from East Avon pulled a victim from the burning apartment.  The victim was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.  Caledonia Ambulance and ALS Medic 77 responded to the scene for Stand By and Rehab.  The Lima Fire Department filled in for East Avon.  Assisting at the scene was the Avon Village Police Department and the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Click here for pictures.

Donated Truck For Mt. Morris   Saturday June 24th, 2006

On Saturday June 24th, 2006 members of the Suffern, NY Fire Department arrived in Mt. Morris with a special gift to the Mt. Morris Fire Department, a Sutphen Pumper.  Mt. Morris has recently suffered the loss of pumper do to mechanical problems.  The newest donation to the Mt. Morris Fire Department will supplement the Engine that East Avon Donated earlier this year and the Pumper Tanker Mt. Morris currently has in service.  Photos provided by Michael Johnson.

House Fire - Bethany - Geneseo Co. Tuesday June 21st, 2006

Bethany Fire Department this afternoon responded to a house fire at 5970 Rt 20 in the Town of Bethany. Departments assisting Bethany were Pavilion, Alexander, Stafford, LeRoy, Wyoming and Town Of Batavia on standby in Bethany.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch. 

On Saturday June 10 the Dansville Fire Department held a Water Supply Drill in the Village. A tanker shuttle was set up to supply two porta tanks that were supplying  water to a Platform and master streams.  Two fill sites were  set up  along a small  creek  with  portable pumps  at one location and a mini pumper  and  a 800' LDH  supply line at the other. Departments assisting Dansville were South Dansville, Canaseraga, West Sparta, Nunda, Conesus, Springwater, Groveland, Mount Morris and Geneseo.  Story and Photos provided by Jay Lynch.  

On Sunday June 4th The Bethany Fire Department conducted a multi Department drill. Fire Departments from Genesee, Wyoming and Livingston county's participated in the live fire exercise at 10458 Francis Rd in the Town of Bethany. The object of the drill was a large Barn complex that has seen better days. A tanker shuttle was set up to supply four porta tanks as well as a supply line of 1500' LDH from a pond to the barn complex. On Wednesday May 31 The Conesus Fire Department held a live burn drill at 6718 Rt.15 in the Town of Conesus. This was the same location of a house fire back in March of 2005 that caused extensive damage to the structure.    Tractor Fire - Sparta - Monday - May 29th, 2006 - Memorial Day

Shortly before 6:00 PM on Monday May 29, the Sparta Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a tractor fire inside a barn across from 8773 Route 63 in the Town of Sparta.  Martha Ronsheim had started up her tractor to do some mowing when flames erupted around the engine.  A quick response by Sparta Firefighters under the direction of Chief Carl Sanderson found the fire out with no extension to the barn.  Office of Emergency Management Services Fire Investigator Tom Pearson assisted in the Cause and Origin determination.  The source of the fire was determined to be debris on the exhaust manifold.  Damage to the tractor was minimal.  Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Casey McLaughlin assisted at the scene.   Story provided by Tom Pearson.

Structure Fire - Lima - Monday - May 29th, 2006 - Memorial Day

Shortly before 4:00 PM on Monday May 29, the Lima Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire at the Ronald Blodgett residence at 1556 Bragg St. in the Town of Lima.   Debris from a barn that was being torn down ignited behind the home sending a column of smoke into the afternoon sky.  Responding Lima Firefighters, under the direction of Chief Andy Luft, called for a mutual aid tanker from the West Bloomfield Fire Department as they arrived.  Hose was laid up the long driveway and water put on the house to keep the fire from spreading.  The flames were quickly extinguished.  Office of Emergency Management Services Fire Investigators Jerry Gehrig and Tom Pearson responded to assist with the Cause and Origin determination.  The fire began when a embers from a burn pile to the North of the barn blew into the pile of debris.  The burn pile, though not used for quite a period of time, still contained enough heat that when combined with the strong winds were able to re-ignite the fire.  The house received no damage.  Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Dougherty assisted at the scene.  Story and Pictures provided by Tom Pearson.

 Structure Fire - East Avon - Monday May 29th, 2006 - Memorial Day

Shortly after 1:00 PM on Monday May 29, the East Avon Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a barn fire at 5817 South Lima Rd. in the Town of Avon.  First arriving firefighters, led by Chief Andy Eichhorn, reported heavy black smoke coming from the front door of the barn owned by Kitty Bressington.  The flames were quickly extinguished and damage was minor.  Office of Emergency Management Service Fire Investigator Tom Pearson assisted in the Cause and Origin determination.  The source of the fire was traced to wiring to an electrical outlet box that overheated igniting some plastic piping and some carpet remnants.  Livingston  County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Cartwright assisted at the scene.   Story and Photos provided by Tom Pearson.

Structure Fire - Dansville - Saturday May 27th, 2006

Dansville firefighters were called out at 4:50 PM on Saturday May 27 to a reported house fire at 4683 Linzy Road.  Dansville Fire Chief Joe Snyder reported a working fire and called for assistance from the Nunda, West Sparta, Perkinsville and Canaseraga Fire Departments.  The blaze was declared under control at 6:15 PM.  The fire started in a second floor bedroom of the Raymond Johantgen residence, destroying two rooms and the attic on the second floor and causing heat, smoke and water damage throughout the remainder of the home.  No one was injured in the fire.  The Livingston County Red Cross provided assistance to Mr. Johantgen and his son Dean.  Firefighters were on the scene until 9:30 PM.  Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Barrett and Office of Emergency Management Services Fire investigators Kevin Niedermaier, Tom McGory, Jerry Gehrig and Tom Pearson were on the scene to assist in the Cause and Origin determination.   Story and Photos provided by Tom Pearson.

The East Avon Fire Department and the Avon Rotary Lions Ambulance regretfully announce the passing of John Milliman.  John was Chaplain and a Past President of East Avon Fire Department, a Pioneer in Firefighter Safety and Critical Incident Stress Management.  John had served as a Fire Commissioner for the Town of Avon Fire District.  At the time of his passing John was Chaplain and Past President of the Livingston County Firefighters Association.  John is a past member of Gates Fire Department, Gates Ambulance, and a Past Asst. Chief in Riverdale Fire Department (Chili Company #4)  Calling hours will be Tuesday May 30th 7pm to 9pm and Wednesday May 31st from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Stephenson ~ Dougherty Funeral Home, 350 Genesee St. Avon.  Funeral will be at 4pm on Thursday June 1st at the Zion Episcopal Church, on the Circle in Avon.

On Saturday May 13th. The Bergen Fire Department conducted a Haz Mat  Drill at the Birds Eye Food plant in the Village. A simulated Chlorine gas leak was the scenario. Car Fire - East Avon - Tuesday - May 2nd, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire on I-390 South - North of Exit 9 on Tuesday afternoon May 2nd, 2006.  Responding equipment located the vehicle and reported it had an engine compartment fire.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police.

 House Fire - LeRoy - Monday - May 1st, 2006

The LeRoy Fire Department and LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the windows next door to 39 Summit Street the morning of Monday May 1st, 2006.  LeRoy Police Department went on location reporting smoke from the structure at 37 Summit Street.  LeRoy Fire Department went on scene and reported a working fire.  Assisting LeRoy at the scene were the following fire departments: Caledonia, Bergen, and Pavilion.  Stafford filled in for LeRoy; East Avon filled in for Caledonia; and York and Retsof filled in for Pavilion.  Photos provided by Jay Lynch.

Barn Fire - York ~ Restof - Sunday - April 30th, 2006

On Sunday April 30th the York and Retsof Fire Departments and ambulances were dispatched to a reported barn fire on York Landing Rd in the Town of York. Due to the narrow dead end road a LDH supply line was laid approximately 800'. First truck in encountered  heavy fire and a power line down across the road. Tire Fire - Geneseo - Sunday - April 30th, 2006

Live Burn Drill - York - Sunday - April 23, 2006

York and Retsof Fire Departments hosted a Live Burn Exercise on Sunday April 23 on McIntyre Road in York.  The house used was the scene of a structure fire on September 28, 2005.  A rural water supply operation was established and was able to flow enough water to supply an aerial device as well as several portable monitors and hand lines.  Along with York and Retsof, participating departments were Caledonia, Cuylerville, Avon, East Avon, Mumford, and Pavilion.  Leicester Fire Department filled in at the Retsof Fire Station.  Photos by Randy Worden, Jay Lynch, and Curt Grant.  Click Here to view all the pictures provided.

Live Burn Drill - Mt Morris - Saturday April 22, 2006

Mt Morris Fire Department was host to a Live Burn Exercise on Saturday April 22 at 51 Grove Street.  The house used was the scene of a structure fire on February 11th.  Besides removing the burned out structure for future renovation of the site, the drill provided the participating departments an opportunity to practice establishing an adequate water supply operation in a limited access area.  Assisting Mt Morris Fire Department at the scene were Mt Morris EMS, Dansville EMS and L518, Nunda P425, Cuylerville P164 and T167, Groveland P325, and Leicester P135.  West Sparta Fire Department provided a stand by crew in Mt Morris and Retsof filled in for Leicester.  Photos by Randy Worden.

Structure Fire - Sparta - Easter Sunday April 16th, 2006

The Sparta Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Scottsburg Road and West Swamp Road (State Rt. 256) the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2006.  Sparta Car 5502 went on location with a confirmed structure fire.  Command requested 1 Pumper from Groveland, Conesus and Dansville to the scene.  A later request for Dansville Ladder 518 was also made.  Springwater filled in Sparta, Livonia in Conesus, and West Sparta in Groveland during this incident.  Investigating the blaze is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management with the assistance of the New York State Police and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting at the scene was New York State Electric and Gas and Livingston County Sewer and Water Authority.  Click here for Photos.  

Structure Fire - Livonia - Wednesday April 12th, 2006

The Conesus Fire Department, Livonia Ambulance, and Livonia Fire Department were dispatched to a reported House Trailer Fire at 6156 East Lake Road on Wednesday Morning April 12th, 2006.  Conesus Command requested Sparta FD to the scene and Springwater FD to fill in Conesus.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, the Northern Livingston County American Red Cross, and the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Click here for photos.

 MVA - Mt. Morris - Sunday - March 25th, 2006

The Mt. Morris Fire Department, Nunda Ambulance, and Livingston County ALS were dispatched to a reported head on motor vehicle accident on River Road near Crossover Road the afternoon of Sunday March 25th, 2006.  Responding apparatus reported people trapped and Nunda Fire Department was requested for the Rescue Truck to the scene.  Mercy Flight was also requested to the scene.  Do tot he patients condition, Mercy Flight Helicopter was not utilized, however its staff assisted Nunda and Livingston County ALS with ground transport.  One patient was prounced dead on arrival at an area hospital.  Avon ALS Medic 70 along with Nunda Ambulance transported other patients to area hospitals.  Leicester Fire Department filled in for Mt. Morris Fire Department.  At the same time as Nunda Fire Department was dispatched to assist Mt. Morris, Nunda also was requested and provided a fill in to the Canaseraga Fire Department.

Controlled Burn - Avon - Sunday   March 25th, 2006

On Sunday March 26th the Avon Fire Department hosted a multi department drill at 427 Rochester St. in the Village of Avon. A house and barn were used in the live fire exercise. This site had been used for training by several area departments prior to this drill. New Tanker - West Sparta    Wednesday - March 22nd, 2006

The West Sparta Volunteer Fire Department recently purchased a new 2006 International 2000 galloon tanker from Churchville Fire Equipment in Churchville, NY This vehicle became a reality through the efforts of Gerad Levey and Gerald Levey.

Tanker 586 is a 2006 International DT570 330 horsepower 4 door cab. The tanker has seating for 5 with four being air pack seats. Inside the cab, it was also has onboard GPS system. The tank has the capacity of 2000 gallons of water. Tanker 586 is equipped with an automatic 10” Newton dump with attachments that will allow for dumping from the right or left side of the truck. The Newton dump can be operated from the driver. There is a 300 gpm portable pump also on board. Tanker 586 will carry various wildland equipment and equipment for water shuttling operations.

Tanker 586 will replace two tankers. The Old Tanker 586 was sold to the Village of Almond Fire Department and Tanker 587 was deemed surplus and is on the market for bid.

The tanker will be formally dedicated to the Late Senator Patricia Magee and the Late Fire Chief Gerald D. Levey in the coming months. Stay tuned for further updates. Press released and photos provided from Acting Fire Chief Michael W. Levey   

Smoke Investigation - East Avon - Monday - March 20th, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department responded to an residence on Jones Lane to investigate the smell of smoke in the residence.  The smoke was found to be originating from the electrical panel.  Assisting at the scene was National Grid Power Company, New York State Police, and Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Photos provided by Lt.  Controlled Burn - Nunda - Sunday  March 19th, 2006

Nunda Fire Department held a controlled burn on Sunday March 19th. With assistance from Genesee Falls and West Sparta Departments, a tanker shuttle was established. The object of the burn was an old demolished barn on Walnut St. at the intersection of Keating Lane in the village of Nunda.  Story and Photo's by Jay Lynch.

Training Night - Conesus - February 20th, 2006

Conesus Fire conduced a live fire training session on Monday night, February 20th.... Along with Conesus, were the Hemlock, Livonia and Sparta Departments...   An old mobile home at 5823 Rt15 in the town of Conesus was used...  This was the same location of a department drill on Saturday February 11th.... East Avon Fire Dept. Donates Engine 276 to Mt. Morris Fire Fire Dept.

East Avon Fire Department donates fire engine to the Mt. Morris Fire Department.  Last fall the East Avon Fire Department replaced a 1976 fire engine and since then have been looking for for a Fire Department in need to donate the replaced fire engine to.  The Mt. Morris Fire Department recently had to take one of their two pumpers out of service due to mechanical problems that rendered the 1986 truck inoperable.  Mt. Morris Fire Chief Joe Gervase contacted East Avon Fire Chief Andy Eichhorn and they made arrangements for Mt. Morris to obtain the used East Avon fire engine.  This fire engine has served the East Avon Fire Department well for many years and hopefully can be of assistance to the Mt. Morris Fire Department until they get a more suitable permanent replacement.  The first week Mt. Morris had the truck it was utilized at a house fire on Grove Street in the village. MVA - East Avon - Monday - February 13th, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department, Avon Ambulance, and Avon ALS Medic 70 were dispatched to a reported MVA with injury at the intersection of Bronson Hill Road and Dutch Hollow Road shortly after noon on Monday February 13th. 2006.  Car 27 went on location with a car versus Dump Truck MVA and the car into a tree, two injuries, and both trapped in the vehicle.  East Avon Fire Fighters quickly extricated both patients from the car.  Avon Ambulance and ALS Medic 70 transported on patient and Livonia Ambulance with Livingston County EMS Medic 79 transported the other to an area hospital.  The New York State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.  The Livingston County Sheriff's Office Assisted at the scene.  Pictures provided by Dan Quinlan East Avon FD Public Information Officer.

 The West Sparta Fire Department and Dansville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported fire in the residence, smoke from the register vents, on Tuesday February 7th, 2006 at approximately 12:15 hrs.  Assisting at the scene was the Dansville Fire Department, Perkinsville Fire Department, and the Nunda Fire Department.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the American Red Cross.

Structure Fire - SUNY Geneseo - Tuesday - January 31st, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were requested to Sturgess Hall on the SUNY Campus for a reported fire on the morning of Tuesday January 31st, 2006.  Car 3102 reported a fire in the wall.  Crews quickly extinguished the fire.  Assisting at the scnee was the University Police Department.

Chimney Fire - Ossian - Thursday January 26th, 2006

The Dansville Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Chimney Fire at 10119 Valley Road in the Town of Ossian the morning of Thursday January 26th, 2006.  The Nunda Fire Department was requested to assist at the scene.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Investigating the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.

Structures Fire - Canaseraga - Friday January 20th, 2006

The Canaseraga Fire Department was assisted by several fire departments from Allegany and Steuben Counties to bring a fully involved house and barn fire under control.   Livingston County sent Dansville Fire Department and Nunda Fire Department to the scene. 

Structure Fire - Dansville - Friday January 20th, 2006

The Dansville Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 30 Cottage Street the morning of Friday January 20th, 2006 at approximately 05:00 hrs.  Car 51 went on location with a fire in a Multi Family Structure with possible people trapped.  A primary and secondary search while fire suppression was taking place resulted in no one trapped and all residents accounted for.  Sparta Fire Department, Wayland Ambulance, and the Dansville Police Department, Livingston County ALS assisted at the scene.  Perkinsville stood by for Dansville Fire Department and Canaseraga Ambulance was requested to stand by for Dansville Ambulance.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.

Barn Fire - Geneseo - Wednesday January 18th, 2006

The Geneseo Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported barn fire on the evening of Wednesday January 18th, 2006 at approximately 22:50 hours.  Assisting Geneseo at the scene were the following fire departments: Mt. Morris, Cuylerville, York, and Retsof.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Lakeville and Livonia Fire Departments stood by for Geneseo.

The Livonia Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Chimney Fire at 3829 Federal Road on Wednesday January 18th, 2006.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management

Structure Fire - Conesus - Saturday January 14th, 2006

The Conesus Fire Department and Livonia Ambulance were dispatched to a reported fire in the residence on Saturday Morning, January 14th, 2006 at approximately 4:00 am.  The Livonia Fire Department stood by for Conesus.  Investigating the cause of the fire is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.

Structure Fire - Nunda - Thursday January 12th, 2006

The Nunda Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to a reported fully involved structure fire at 8851 Picket Line Road on Thursday evening January 12th, 2006 at approximately 23:00 hrs.  Nunda Police discovered the fire while on patrol.  Assisting at the scene were the following fire departments: Canaseraga, Genesee Falls, and Mt. Morris.  Short Tract Fire Department stood by for Nunda, Pike stood by for Genesee Falls, and Leicester stood by for Mt. Morris.  Investigating the cause is the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. 

 MVA - Retsof ~ York - Thursday   January 12th, 2006

The York and Retsof Fire Departments and Ambulances along with Caledonia ALS Medic 77 were dispatched to a reported MVA on US Rt. 20 at State Rt. 36 on Thursday afternoon, January 12th, 2006 at approximately 12:15pm.  Responding units reported a head on MVA with multiple patients, some critical.  Ambulances from Caledonia, LeRoy, Avon, Geneseo, and Cuylerville were requested to the scene.  ALS Units from Avon, Caledonia, Livingston County EMS, and LeRoy were requested to scene.  Mercy Flight was launched, however was canceled while enroute to the Landing Zone.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Assisting at the scene was the New York State Police.

MVA - Retsof ~ York - Wednesday January 11th, 2006

The Retsof & York Fire Departments and Ambulances along with Livingston County EMS ALS Medic 79 were dispatched to a reported car pedestrian MVA on Rt. 63 in front of the York Central School on Wednesday evening January 11th, 2006 at approximately 8:45pm.  Responding personal reported a the patient to be DOA.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the New York State Police and the Livingston County Corners Office.  Assisting at the scene was the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.   

MVA - East Avon - Wednesday - January 11th, 2006

The East Avon Fire Department, Avon Ambulance, and Avon ALS Medic 70 were dispatched to a reported multiple vehicle MVA on I-390 North, South of Exit 9, on Wednesday morning January 11th, 2006.  Responding units located the MVA and one person was transported to a local hospital with injuries.  Investigating the cause of the accident is the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.

Structure Fire - Leicester - Monday January 9th, 2006

The Leicester Fire Department and Cuylerville Ambulance were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 46 South Parkway on Monday evening Jan. 9th, 2006.  The Cuylerville Fire Department was requested to the scene.  The Livingston County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.

Chimney Fire - Groveland - Saturday January 7th, 2006

The Groveland Fire Department and Geneseo Ambulance were dispatched to a reported Chimney Fire at 5064 Wilson Road the morning of Saturday January 7th, 2006. The Livingston County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
